Position Overview: The Controller will oversee accounting operations, managing a team of accountants to handle weekly, monthly, and year-end activities for portfolio entities and the parent company. The role includes working with the VP of Finance, managing relationships with external auditors, providing detailed reports to investment bankers and lenders, and supporting buy-side due diligence during acquisitions. The Controller will also participate in budgeting and FP&A responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage general accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and streamlined workflows.

  • Lead the month-end close, overseeing reconciliations and preparing consolidated financial statements.

  • Supervise teams producing weekly and monthly accounting reports.

  • Maintain and document scalable standard operating procedures with strong controls.

  • Understand and document complex accounting processes impacting financials across entities.

  • Train team members on best practices.

  • Participate in budgeting and cash-flow forecasting.

  • Perform FP&A activities to track performance and business opportunities.

  • Collaborate with auditors and Q of E partners as needed.

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 8+ years of operational accounting experience in service businesses.

  • CPA and/or Big-4 experience preferred.

  • Experience with multi-entity accounting, consolidated books, and working with PE-backed companies.

  • Strong team collaboration and leadership skills.

  • Experience in a high-growth environment.

  • Familiarity with CPG, retail, or online businesses is a plus.

  • Passion for leveraging systems and driving process improvements.

  • Proficient in QBO, Excel, and full close-cycle accounting.
