The energy trading division operates as a hands-on merchant trader of petroleum products, known for blending, storage, logistics, and sales programs that drive value through supply chain efficiency and global scale.
About the Role
This is a senior to mid-level trading role focused on physical petroleum products, including fuel oil and feedstocks. The trader will execute on commercial strategies, manage risk, maintain and grow client relationships, and work in close coordination with logistics and operations. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and growing desk with access to robust market infrastructure and global resources.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze energy markets, supply-demand trends, and geopolitical factors to inform trading strategy
Execute trades and manage a portfolio of petroleum products with P&L responsibility
Optimize product flow and delivery in coordination with logistics and storage teams
Identify arbitrage and margin opportunities in the physical fuel oil and feedstocks space
Develop and maintain strong client relationships across producers, refiners, and traders
Utilize data modeling and analytics to guide market positioning and forecasts
Ensure trading activity aligns with regulatory and internal compliance requirements
Provide regular reporting on trading performance, risk exposure, and market analysis
Operate under a regulated trading book with adherence to operational risk frameworks
Represent the firm’s values and uphold the highest standards of integrity and conduct
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience trading physical petroleum products, particularly fuel oil and feedstocks
Strong commercial instincts and client-facing ability
Deep understanding of energy market fundamentals and trade flow
Experience with logistics coordination, storage, and blending strategies
Strong analytical and risk management skills
Familiarity with regulatory environments (SEC, CFTC, NFA, etc.)
Knowledge of market access tools, including voice, screen, and DMA platforms
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Compensation
Base Salary: $ 150,000 - $200,000/year
Eligible for discretionary bonus
