About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Physical Products Trader to lead and grow a portfolio of petroleum products, including fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, crude oil, and related components. This is a senior-level role requiring autonomy, commercial acumen, and deep market knowledge. The ideal candidate is a proactive operator who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and can originate and execute trades while managing risk and maintaining client relationships.
Specialize in sourcing and accumulating a wide range of petroleum products, including:
Fuel Oil, Gasoline, Diesel, Crude Oil, Feedstock and Components
Responsibilities
Trade physical petroleum products with a focus on maximizing profitability and managing risk.
Analyze market trends, supply/demand dynamics, geopolitical factors, and economic indicators to inform strategy.
Execute trades and oversee logistics, transportation, and storage functions to ensure timely delivery.
Leverage arbitrage opportunities, price differentials, and market dislocations.
Maintain and expand relationships with suppliers, clients, and counterparties.
Use analytics, forecasting, and market modeling to guide decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including risk, legal, compliance, and operations.
Ensure trading activities align with all applicable regulatory and compliance standards (SEC, NFA, CFTC, etc.).
Produce performance reports and market insights for internal stakeholders.
Act as a brand ambassador and uphold the firm’s values of integrity, collaboration, and adaptability.
Requirements
5+ years of experience trading physical petroleum products (fuel oil, gasoline, diesel, etc.).
Deep knowledge of petroleum markets, logistics, blending, and storage.
Demonstrated ability to generate and manage a profitable book.
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance expectations.
Experience working with a global client base, including banks, funds, and trading houses.
Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
Analytical, decisive, and resilient in high-pressure environments.
Experience in risk managing petroleum portfolios and operating electronic trading infrastructure.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Compensation Base salary: $150,000–$200,000/year, plus discretionary bonus.
