A global leader in the financial services industry, specializing in energy and commodities markets has an exciting opportunity in its Physical Oil and Petroleum Trading Division. The division specializes in trading a wide range of petroleum products, including crude oil, distillates, fuel oil, gasoline, and more, offering comprehensive services such as blending, storage, logistics, and distribution. This dynamic, global division leverages its extensive industry experience and market access to provide tailored solutions to clients in the energy sector.

​We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and proactive Physical Crude & Petroleum Trader. This senior to intermediate-level position requires the ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a team and engaging directly with clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of petroleum products and demonstrating strong commercial acumen to maintain and grow relationships with both existing and new clients.​

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze energy markets, economic indicators, and geopolitical factors to inform trading decisions.

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate price fluctuations, credit risks, and operational uncertainties.

  • Execute trades for petroleum products, ensuring timely and accurate execution.

  • Collaborate with logistics, transportation, and storage teams to optimize product movement and storage.

  • Identify opportunities to maximize profits through price differentials and arbitrage.

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, including suppliers, banks, hedge funds, and institutional traders.

  • Utilize data analytics and market forecasting to predict trends and refine trading strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies, including SEC, FINRA, and CFTC standards.

  • Regularly report on trading performance, market conditions, and other key metrics.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in trading petroleum products with a strong understanding of both physical and financial markets.

  • Expertise in risk management and trading infrastructure.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Experience with market analytics, forecasting, and trend analysis.

  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards within the energy trading sector.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

 

Salary Range:
$150,000 to $200,000 per year, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses.
